My Collection : the beginning! (picture heavy)

Good morning beautiful people! It's cold and snowy here, perfect weather for blogging! I got the idea for today's post, from a post on twitter by Lisa at Ms. Prettyful Girl and I loved it. And I totally asked her permission before doing this post...no one likes an idea thief!

Basically what today's post is about is my beauty collection at the beginning. After a year, assuming I'm still blogging, I will follow up and show what my collection has grown into. Now...I've been working on this collection for over a year. I wish I knew then that I would be starting a beauty blog so I could show you ladies what my collection was before this. When I started reading beauty blogs and watching YT videos around August of 2010, all the makeup I owned fit into ONE caboodles (lol..caboodles.) train case with plenty of room to spare. I had 2 Covergirl eyeshadow palettes, a green and a purple one, foundation, pressed powder, a black and a purple eyeliner, mascara and a blush. About a year and a half later...this is my collection.

Most of my makeup is in those 2 sets of drawers. It's grown a lot! It's still not as big, and awesome, as some collections I've seen, but I'm working on it.

my top 5 bad beauty habits.

Hey there beautiful! I thought I would do a different type of post for today. Its the beginning of a mew year and everyone has made (and possibly already given up on) some new years resolutions. In the spirit of personal growth and resolutions, I thought it would be fun to see if I can identify and break my worst beauty habits.

I will show you my list and in the next month or so, I will update on my progress. To help me stay on track I'm going to be using Dailyfeats. This allows you to check in when you've completed a daily goal and earn points towards rewards mole amazon gift cards!


MY TOP FIVE WORST BEAUTY HABITS....in no particular order.

-biting my nails. I do this when I'm nervous or stressed out (see : everyday) and it makes my nails look like garbage. They get uneven and flaky causing my nailpolish to flake off faster than normal. Boo.



-not washing my makeup off before bed. I think about doing this everyday, but then I lay down and. And I'm too comfy to get up and wash my face. This one is particularly bad as I have oily skin so I already have enough skin problems without leaving an extra layer of funk to clog up my pores. Ugh.

-constantly touching my face. This one also bothers me a lot because of my skin. Ive been working so hard to clear up my skin but ill find myself just sitting there rubbing my eyes or picking at blemishes.

-not washing my makeup brushes /sponges as often as I should. I know I should at least do this weekkly, but if I'm being honest (which I am) I busy don't. I also don't do my makeup everyday. Especially if I'm working the early shift at work which means I have to be out of my house by 6am. Still...its pretty unsanitary.

-and last, and this one will probably make you beauty wizards cringe, blowing on my makeup brushes. Instead of tapping excess product off of my brushes I instinctively blow on them. Gross, right? I agree.

D.I.Y. Storage Part 1 : The Birchbox Lipstick Holder

Hi! A few days ago I asked if anyone would be interested in seeing some DIY beauty storage for $5 or less. The response wasn't that overwhelming but a few of you responded and you all said yes!

I'm going to start today with a post about a lipstick holder that *did* actually get alot of comments when I posted the photo on twitter so I'm going to show you what I used and how it turned out!

(disclaimer : this probably isn't very efficient storage if you have a giant lipstick collection, but it would work if have a few the you use often and want to display them instead of having to hunt them down!)

Posh Locket Prize

Recently I entered several giveaways and won 2 of them, both for jewelry. All of the items are really cute so I'm going to post them as I receive them.

Target Sample Bag!

Hello ladies!



I got my first Target sample bag in the mail today! I had heard about them before, but had never requested one. And then one day back in August, Nouveau Cheap had a link for their new bags! To be honest, I forgot I requested one until last week when I saw on twitter that people had started to get them. I love samples because I like to try new things without actually having to commit to them, so I was excited when mine arrived this afternoon.

The bag itself is super cute! Inside the bag, I got :

•  A coupon booklet loaded with hair/skin/makeup coupons
• Burt's Bees Radiance SPF 15 day lotion with royal jelly
• Garnier Fructis pure clean fortifying shampoo/conditioner
• TRESemme Naturals shampoo/conditioner
• John Frieda full repair shampoo/conditioner
• L'oreal Youth Code day/night cream
• Ponds evening soothe cleansing wipes with chamomile and white tea

Overall, I like the products I received. The only thing I have tried so far are the Ponds cleansing wipes. They smell *SO* good and they made my skin feel cleaner than any other facial wipe I've tried before!
